Board of Directors

Mats Pettersson, B.Sc., serves as Chairman of the Board of NsGene. Mats Pettersson is the co-founder of Biovitrum AB in Sweden and recently retired from the position as CEO. Prior to Biovitrum, he mainly held executive Business Development positions in the pharmaceutical group Pharmacia (Sweden, Italy, UK and USA), where he was responsible for several of the transforming transactions in the group. Mats Pettersson brings to NsGene more than 30 years of experience of taking international life sciences companies through different development phases.

Flemming Pedersen, CEO, M.Sc in Business Economics, joined NeuroSearch in 2000 as CFO and was appointed CEO in April 2006. Before joining NeuroSearch, Flemming Pedersen worked for 3 years with corporate financing matters in the international brewing company Carlsberg, and for 5 years as a CFO in Maersk Medical (Industry Group with 5,000 employees within The A.P. Moller Group). Flemming Pedersen is originally educated as an auditor and has 9 years of experience from auditing and consulting. Flemming Pedersen has participated in the completion of a number of fundraisings both in the private equity market and in the public market.

Jørgen Drejer, PhD, is a co-founder of NeuroSearch A/S, where he has served as Director of Cell Biology since 1989 and as Executive Vice President and Director of Drug Discovery since 2000. Dr. Jørgen Drejer has more than 20 years' experience in neuroscience research and has authored or co-authored more than 80 publications. Prior to joining NeuroSearch, he served as project manager and department head at Ferrosan. Dr. Jørgen Drejer is also a member of the board in Atonomics A/S and Medicult A/S.

Elsebeth Budolfsen, MSc, has more than 20 years' of top-management experience from the healthcare industry. From 1979 to February 2000 she was the President of Alk-Abello A/S, from 1989 she also served as Executive Vice President of The Christian Hansen Group, and from 2000 - 2005 Elsebeth Budolfsen held a position as Managing Director of T-cellic A/S. Today she serves as a board member of several  companies e.g. Dong A/S, Ferrosan, and Fetin.  

Carl Johan Sundberg is an investment manager at Karolinska Investement Fund. He is a licensed Physician, Associate Professor of Physiology and leads the Unit for Bio-entrepreneurship at Karolinska Institutet. He has vast venture capital, management, science communication and R&D experience from a large number of appointments. They include science editor at Swedish medical Journal, vice-president of Euroscience, chairman of the senior advisory board of Connect Biotech Partnership, chairman of Venture Cup East and board member of Angiogenetics AB.  

Trine Bartholdy is Investment Director in Sunstone Capital and has for several years been working with all aspects within the venture capital business. Before joining Vaekstfonden in 2003, Trine Bartholdy has been working with private equity units in Danske Bank. Through her work she has gained great expertise in building up international relationships with international VC’s, corporate finance entities a.o.
